The bedroom was outfitted in the most outrageously romantic decor Ginger had ever seen. The bed, a gorgeous four–poster, was draped in gauzy, white bed curtains. The plush, velvet duvet was folded back to reveal matching, dove–gray satin sheets, upon which Winnie had scattered pale, pink rose petals. The room was warm, the air scented of roses and melting beeswax, as at least a dozen crystal tea light candles flickered around the room. They reflected off floor–to–ceiling mirrors propped against the wall.

Winnie stepped beside her, placing her hand at the small of Ginger's back. "Do you like it?" Her honey–colored eyes looked very large, and very dark, in the candlelit room.

"Like it? I love it. It's amazing. You're amazing. It's just –"

Winnie cut her off with a kiss, walking her back to the bed. Ginger acquiesced with a sigh, wrapping her arms around Winnie's neck as the backs of her knees hit the edge of the mattress.

And then things got weird.

No matter how Ginger wriggled, undulated, or enticed, things stayed on first base. When she tried to slip her hands under Winnie's shirt, she found her wrists over her head. When she wrapped her pale legs around Winnie's waist, rucking her skirt up, so that the thin layer of her underwear was pressed intimately to Winnie's shorts, she just groaned and kissed Ginger more fiercely.

This went on for quite some time, until Ginger felt like a teakettle ready to blow.

She loved a hot make–out session as much as the next girl, probably more, but she was going to lose her mind if something didn't happen.

Finally, she drew back and locked her eyes on Winnie. “Is everything okay?”

Winnie held Ginger's gaze for several moments before sighing and rolling out of Ginger's embrace. She stared at the ceiling until Ginger propped her head on her hand and said, “Spill it.”

“I've never done this before.”

“The first date, all–the–way thing? Me either.” Ginger admitted. “We don't have to – ”

“No, not that.” Winnie closed her eyes, “I mean, this. Any of this.”

“You've never been with a woman before?” Ginger felt tendrils of excitement and anxiety thread their way through her spine.

Winnie lifted slightly to tuck her hands behind her head. She didn't open her eyes. “No woman. No man. No one.”

Ginger felt her mouth form a perfect circle of shock, “Not possible.” She murmured. “Look at you. You're so hot and you must be around my age. How old are you?”

Winnie frowned. “How old are you?”

“Thirty.”

Winnie winced, and Ginger noted the fresh, dewy shimmer of her face, and the way her skin clung with the taut tenacity of youth to her muscles. “Okay, so you’re not thirty. Twenty-seven?”

“Not quite.”

“Twenty-five?”

Winnie’s nose scrunched, and she muttered, “I’ll be twenty-five… in a year or two.”

“Oh, God. Tell me you’re legal to drink, and you were serious about all that nitrate, Euro-babble stuff.”

Winnie laughed, “Yeah. I’m legal.”

Ginger groaned, “You’re twenty-one? Holy shit.”

“I turned twenty-three a few weeks ago,” Winnie rushed to assure her.

Ginger laughed, sounding far more hysterical than she’d intended.
